So I have found something I want to try it's called Gotu Kola. I have known about it for a long time in regards to mental clarity and nutrition but this was the first I had read about how useful it is in nourishing and strengthening the skin aiding in the tone and resolving issues such as cellulite, (I will add what I learned below).
So being the spontaneous person I am I wanted to run out and pick up a bottle to try right away,... much to my dismay I found Gotu Kola essential oil is not a common commodity, it is in fact rather rare and hard to find. I did however find a local herb shop that carries the cut leaf in bulk so I'm doing the next best thing with is to try to make my own infusion! This is what I'm doing; Using a 32oz mason jar fill it 2/3 full of the cut herb Fill the jar almost up to the top with organic virgin liquid coconut oil (this is my go-to carrier oil, you can try almond, grapeseed, or something else that is light and easily absorbed) Cap tightly and set in a window sill Shake to mix every 2-3 days After about 3-4 weeks capture the oil pouring through a fine colander to catch the herb (I am going to try using the herb for a wrap or a face pack, or something like that. No sense letting it go to waste! I intend to use this infusion as a carrier oil for a firming type blend! What I learned; Gotu Kola (aka pennywort) is used to treat venereal diseases, skin impurities, rheumatism, high blood pressure, hepatitis, varicose veins, skin ulcers, minor burns, fatigue and stress. This herb is also able to greatly benefit the central nervous system, making it effective in the treatment of ADD, senility, epilepsy, strokes and nervous system disorders. Those suffering from leg cramps and phlebitis can benefit from using this herb. It is also effective in reducing fevers. This herb works by averting a disorderly manner of the absorption of nutrition and corrects this process through an improved progression of digestion of nutrients. Pennywort has properties of being antibacterial, anti-viral, and anti- inflammatory. It contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6 as well as the minerals, calcium, magnesium, sodium, manganese, and zinc. The benefits of Gotu Kola tea are numerous and many people use this tea as a health tonic. Maintaining youth and the treatment of arthritis are its most popular use. It is recongized as a longivity herb because of its ability to help rebuild connective tissue, which in turn, can slow the aging process. Plus, it has been commended as a great antidote for improving memory and, therefore, considered food for the brain. Studies have indicated by consuming 2-4 raw Gotu Kola leaves a day may help sharpen alertness and memory and rejuvenate the brain. There is important research being conducted to observe the effects this herb can have on those suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. The central nervous system can receive amazing benefits with the consumption of Gotu Kola. This herb works well in relaxing the mind and can assist in certain nervous disorders, senility, strokes, ADD, and epilepsy. It can be utilized as a nerve tonic when coping with mental stress and fatigue and encourage sleep due to a nervous condition. Gotu Kola can help protect our immune system from toxins. High blood pressure, congestive heart failure, venereal diseases and urinary tract infections are a few of a range of illnesses that can be treated with this remarkable herb. Because of its antibiotic properties, it has the capability to speed up the healing process of wounds. Futhermore, Gotu Kola can improve blood flow while also reinforcing veins and capillaries, making them stronger. Studies have shown it to be beneficial in healing and preventing phlebitis, leg cramps, and blood clots as well as decrease the appearance of varicose veins. It is effective in bringing down fever and treating dysentery in children, which is a servere form of diarrhea. Gotu Kola has also proved to cleanse and purify the blood stream and can remedy certain skin conditions such as eczema, chronic ulcers, sores, and scleroderma, which is a condition that hardens the skin. This is my favorite mix to target firming and stretchmarks on my belly and thigh skin as well as help diminish the cellulite on my bum & legs. Absorbs real well, a little goes a long way!
Here's my base recipe; 60 Drops Each; Frankencense Myrrh Grapefruit Cypress in 3oz Coconut Oil Ok, for I had fun with the Gotu Kola Infusion, and it looks so nice sitting on the sill in the sun I just had to try a few more!
This time I'm playing with some organic dried and cut Parsley and Clove herbs I picked up from the local market. I'm going to do the same procedure as I did with the Gotu Kola; Take a jar, fill it 2/3 with cut herb. Fill almost to the top with my carrier oil (my choice is liquid Organic Coconut Oil) Sit in in a sunny sill for about 3-4 weeks shaking to mix once about every 2-3 days. This is what I learned; PARSLEY Parsley is so good for way to many things to list them all so I just ask you to Google it for your self! But, I will highlight a few reasons I am using it... Parsley is high in vitamin C, vitamin K, a good source for vitamin B and potassium, folic acid, iron, calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, and chlorophyll. Responsible for photosynthesis, chlorophyll is essentially the life-blood of plants, similar to our own hemoglobin and is what gives plants their green color. In humans, chlorophyll has the action of breaking down carbon dioxide and releasing free oxygen in the body, helping to inhibit harmful bacteria and toxins. Natural, plant-based chlorophyll can support healing, oxygenation of the body, building healthy blood, cleansing the blood and detoxing. The high amount of Vitamin C in parsley nourishes the skin from within to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. Parsley stimulates the production of collagen in the skin and promotes cell reproduction and repair. This leads to faster growth of new skin which results in blemish-free, even and smooth skin.Crushed parsley, applied topically, is a simple remedy for skin discoloration and puffiness, that you can easily make and use at home. There are several nutrients in parsley, such as vitamin C, chlorophyll, vitamin K and various volatile oils, that are suggested to be responsible for its skin lightening and puffiness reducing qualities. With a towel over your pillow, place a moist but not dripping parsley infused rag over the skin under your eyes (but not on the eyes themselves) for at least 10 minutes. This is a simple way to use parsley for dark circles under the eyes and getting rid of eye bag puffiness and discoloration. CLOVE The active component of cloves is eugenol oil. This oil makes up 60-90% of each clove and has long been thought to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. This oil also acts as an antiseptic, anesthetic, digestive stimulant expectorant, aromatic, antispasmodic, astringent and accounts for its various uses. The predominant chemical constituents found in all three types of clove oils are eugenol, eugenyl acetate, and caryophyllene. However, these three types all vary in their eugenol content. For instance, clove leaf oil contains very low levels of eugenol, compared to clove bud oil. Oil derived from the clove stem contains the highest amount of the compound, which makes it unsuitable for external applications. Clove is rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and vitamin A and vitamin C. Many people have suggested that clove oil is extremely beneficial in increasing breast size in a quick and effective manner as it increases the circulation of blood bringing more nutrients and better absorption into the breast tissues. This oil works best when mixed with the extracts of ginger which can be found in any naturopath’s store. Use more of ginger extracts and less of the oil. You will see that your breasts have started growing in just 8 to 10 weeks. An aid for skin disorders, When applied topically, clove buds can help address skin problems like warts, acne, sagging skin, and wrinkles. The effects are best achieved when the oil is used in liquid form and spread on a clean, dry skin. You will find it in many products for lessening the effects of aging, like wrinkles, sagging skin, and facial rejuvenation for the eyes because of its rejuvenating and stimulating properties, which can increase blood flow to unhealthy skin. |
