The following is a compilation of information I have collected from various resources, some links are intact, many of the sources are no longer available or had been removed in my process of condensing the information I had.
I have created this list as well as this website to consolidate and create a simple place for me to be able to find and review what I have learned along the way, as all things in life this is a work in progress.
f you have stumbled upon this information and find it useful please note that if you decide to try or experiment with any of the things I have listed you are doing so at your own risk. Please always use caution when using essential oils as they are very potent and in most cases need to be diluted with a carrier oil before application to the skin. With that being said every person is unique and each individual may have different results, successes, or reactions.

WHAT I LEARNED;
American Ginseng
American ginseng is often used to support gland health, energy, and the nervous system.
Anise
Anise essential oil has some pretty amazing properties; it can be used to calm the digestive system and it even has anti-spasmodic and anti-rheumatic properties too. Anise or aniseed is a flowering plant. The oil is made by extracting it from the seed (fruit) of the anise plant and it has been used in cooking and as a medicine, since before the days of the Romans. Here are ten of the must know benefits and uses of Anise essential oil.
1. Improves the digestion
People have been using anise for centuries to aid the digestion. It is particularly effective after eating a big meal and if you add a small amount of anise essential oil (a couple of drops will be enough) in some water and drink it, it will speed up the digestive process and leave you feeling less bloated.
2. It works as an expectorant
Used in many commercial cough and cold remedies, anise essential oil is a very effective expectorant. You can use anise oil to relieve the symptoms of colds as it will loosen phlegm on the chest and ease congestion quickly.
3. It has antiseptic properties
Used topically, anise essential oil has some pretty strong antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties too. It will help prevent infection in wounds and speed up the healing process.
4. It eases the symptoms of rheumatism
The oil also has potent anti-rheumatic properties. When massaged into the skin around the affected area, anise essential oil can help reduce the pain and inflammation and improve the blood circulation.
5. It is an antispasmodic
As well as being good for easing the pain of rheumatism, anise oil can also help ease the muscle contractions of cramps and similar spasmodic conditions. Rubbed into the skin, anise oil will help reduce and calm the spasms and relax the muscles.
6. It reduces gas and bloating
When you get that bloated feeling and trapped gas, then anise oil will relieve that too. A few drops of anise essential oil in a glass of warm water will help to release the trapped gas and it can also soothe the symptoms of heartburn.
7. It works as an insect repellent
Anise essential oil is a natural insecticide and it is poisonous to most insect pests like house flies and mosquitos. Just a little bit of the oil will keep the flying critters at bay and stop you from getting bitten on your summer’s days out.
8. It has anti-fungal properties
Anise essential oil is also an effective anti-fungal that can fight fungal infections such as candida. In research that was carried out in Korea, it was found that extracts of anise could be a very effective treatment for such ailments.
9. It can be used to treat epileptic fits
The essential oil can be used as a very effective anti-epileptic and anti-hysteria treatment. Anise oil slows down the circulation of blood, which has a calming, sedative effect.
10. It can be sued to treat intestinal infections
Anise essential oil is also used in alternative medicine as a treatment for stomach infections, like intestinal worms. Its powerful properties, similar to its insecticide properties, purge worms from the stomach quickly.
Black Cohosh Root*
Black cohosh, (aka Cimicifuga racemosa), is a native of North America.
Black cohosh is believed to help women with postmenopausal symptoms. At the same time, it has properties that are capable of raising estrogen levels, which makes it a perfect candidate to help boost your breast size. Hence, this explains why black cohosh is a must in breast enhancement supplements.
However, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine reported that too much of this herb can have negative effects on the liver, especially when taken in large amounts. It can also bring side effects such as dark urine, jaundice and abdominal pain. Therefore, make sure to take only a maximum of 80 milligrams a day. Alcohol is also not recommended when you take this herb.
You can get black cohosh extracts online or in health stores.
Blessed Thistle
Blessed Thistle, (aka Holy Thistle or Spotted Thistle), has been used widely to help nursing women increase their milk supply. Apart from stimulating milk flow in nursing mothers, Blessed Thistle is known to enhance breast growth by acting as a hormonal balancing agent in women.
Additional Benefits: Strengthens the heart, lungs, and increase circulation, useful for digestive problems (works by stimulating the production of saliva and digestive juices.
Note: Blessed Thistle is NOT recommended for pregnant women, people who are allergice to daisies and ragweeds, as well as people who suffer from gastro-intestinal problems since this herb triggers acid production in the stomach.
Carrot Seed
Cinnamon Bark Oil
Cinnamon bark oil is obtained by steaming the bark of the cinnamon tree, or more precisely the Cinnamomum Verum tree. It is a strong, hot oil and should first be used sparingly in diluted form until you are certain your skin, lungs, and digestive tract are not irritated by it. For the health benefits, opt for Ceylon cinnamon oil over Cassia oil, even though the latter may be cheaper and more easily available.
The Health Benefits of Cinnamon Oil
Cinnamon Oil Reduces Diabetes Symptoms
When ingested, cinnamon oil has been shown to improve the common symptoms of diabetes. It fights insulin resistance by improving the body’s response to insulin, it lowers elevated blood glucose levels, it lowers inflammation, and it increases antioxidant activity.
The effects are not large, but it could be useful to use as an intervention to prevent diabetes in combination with a healthy diet and exercise program. It could be especially useful to people who used to eat unhealthy diets and who are now abandoning their old lifestyles for healthier ones. Since diabetes is one of the best predictors of obesity and even heart disease, the importance of this benefit cannot be over-stated.
Cinnamon Oil May Help Prevent Cardiovascular Disease
According to a study published in the Journal of Diabetes Technology Society 2010, cinnamon oil could reduce harmful triglycerides in the blood by 30% and LDL or bad cholesterol by 27%. The build-up of fatty triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood and arteries is considered to be one of the causes of cardiovascular disease.
Cinnamon Oil’s Anti-Bacterial Properties
The antibacterial properties of cinnamon oil can be beneficial in several ways. Researchers have found that it can remove some strains of E.coli, Salmonella, and other bacteria, and this study was published in the Journal of Food Protection 2002. [2]
These bacteria are found both in the intestines and sometimes on fresh vegetable leaves. The oil can be swallowed for use against intestinal bacteria or used as part of your vegetable washing routine. Just rinse the vegetables afterwards if you don’t want food to taste like cinnamon.
A study published in the BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine Journal 2006, found that cinnamon oil was one of the most effective natural oils at removing different types of bacteria. [3]
Added to your air freshener; it may remove airborne bacteria, especially in your car during the rainy season or in the bathroom which is permanently damp and vulnerable to mold.
If you wear shoes all day or use shared showers or change rooms, wash your feet in it every night to prevent bacterial and fungal infections. In fact, most infections of open wounds are also caused by bacteria, which makes it a good option for wound treatment too.
Cinnamon Oil Improves symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease
Several researchers have concluded that cinnamon oil may have potential for preventing Alzheimer’s disease and for improving the symptoms once they are present.
One study, published in The Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease 2009, attributed this effect to the oil’s ability to inhibit the build-up of amyloid-beta in animals’ brains, which is one of the causes of the disease. [4]
Other researchers found that oral bacteria contributed to dementia in the elderly, which would imply that cinnamon oil’s antibacterial properties also play a role in keeping the worst symptoms at bay by fighting those bacteria. [5]
Since the oil tastes good and lacks side effects, you have nothing to lose if you take some multiple times a week to prevent dementia from taking hold.
Parkinson’s and other neurological diseases also involve a build-up of amyloid-beta in the brain, so with further research, cinnamon oil may become an intervention against many such disorders.
You can also use coconut oil to rescue the brain from alzheimer’s disease and consuming pomegranate is also beneficial.
Cinnamon Oil’s Anti-Inflammatory Properties
Most medical scientists now agree that chronic low-level inflammation is a contributing factor in many of the most common 21st century diseases in the industrialized world, including cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer’s Disease, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and several auto-immune disorders.
In a review of the scientific literature, one author found that most studies had concluded that cinnamon oil had anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it a good oil to apply to wounds and insect bites and to ingest as a preventative measure against the inflammatory diseases listed above.
Cinnamon Oil as Skin Cancer Treatment Supplement
A group of Turkish researchers discovered in 2010 that cinnamon oil could be beneficial as a treatment for skin cancer tumors.
Since the research has not been definitively replicated, it is advisable not to use it as your first line of treatment, but in combination with a physician prescribed cancer regime. You should also be aware of the warning signs of melanoma which is the most deadly form of skin cancer.
Cinnamon Oil as Antioxidant
To repair or prevent the damage that interaction with oxygen can do to cells in the body, cinnamon oil has been found to be a powerful antioxidant.
Since cells outside and inside the body can be damaged, the oil can be either ingested or applied to the skin. Oxidative stress is believed to be responsible for most of the common effects of aging, as the cells that are robbed of their electrons by free radicals often simply die.
This may even be why cinnamon oil is such a good treatment for wounds and insect bites, and why you may want to try it as a soothing oil after a sunburn. It limits cell damage, which is present in all these cases.
Cinnamon Oil as a Relaxant and Mood Lifter
Where mint has a cooling effect, cinnamon oil has a warming effect when applied to the skin. Many people report applying it to their feet under socks when they go to bed.
Others use it for pre-bed or sexual massages which you can combine with other oils that create mood for love. Make sure to keep it off the genitals, as it may be too strong and burn. It may be the association with warmth, but many users report that it makes them feel relaxed and happy.
Another idea is to add it to potpourri for achieving that happy smell around your home.
Cinnamon Oil as Mosquito Repellent
While it is not the best natural oil to repel adult mosquitoes and kill their larva, cinnamon oil has been proved to be somewhat effective to keep those pests away.
Unfortunately, it lasts for only two hours when applied to the surface of your skin, but you can try to leave some next to your bed to see if it works also.
Clary Sage
Clary sage is an essential oil that helps remove fine lines and wrinkles. This essential oil is best used in combination with skin moisturizers. It has anti septic and anti bacterial properties that help balance out sebum production which tightens skin pores. This improves skin texture and gives a smooth appearance less of wrinkles and fine lines.
This oil is believed to balance your hormones, to combat your stress by improving relaxation, to reduce inflammation, and to give your skin a smoother and softer texture, thereby tackling several causes of cellulite. Clary sage oil is also one of the best essential oils for wrinkles.
Clary sage is great for hair loss, it has cleansing and conditioning properties. It moisturizes and deeply penetrates dry, processed and damages hair. It nourishes your hair strands and reduces hair loss. This in turn fills in your scalp with new natural hair growth.
Clove
The active component of cloves is eugenol oil. This oil makes up 60-90% of each clove and has long been thought to kill bacteria, viruses and fungi. This oil also acts as an antiseptic, anesthetic, digestive stimulant expectorant, aromatic, antispasmodic, astringent and accounts for its various uses.
The predominant chemical constituents found in all three types of clove oils are eugenol, eugenyl acetate, and caryophyllene. However, these three types all vary in their eugenol content. For instance, clove leaf oil contains very low levels of eugenol, compared to clove bud oil. Oil derived from the clove stem contains the highest amount of the compound, which makes it unsuitable for external applications.
Clove is rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and vitamin A and vitamin C.
Many people have suggested that clove oil is extremely beneficial in increasing breast size in a quick and effective manner.
This oil works best when mixed with the extracts of ginger which can be found in any naturopath’s store.
Use more of ginger extracts and less of the oil. You will see that your breasts have started growing in just 8 to 10 weeks.
Clove speeds up the process of regenerating new cells in the breast.
There seems to be little or no scientific research into the medicinal uses of cloves which frankly, I find baffling given the huge sums that are devoted to the research of toxic pharmacy products.
That said, here are some of the reported therapeutic uses of cloves and oil of clove:
Anti-bacterial and Anti-fungal: As an aid for food poisoning, clove oil effectively kills many forms of bacterial infections. Clove is also effective in reducing fungal infections such as athlete’s foot.

It contains the compound eugenol, which has been used in dentistry for many years. Gargling with diluted clove oil helps in easing throat pain and irritation. The characteristic smell of clove oil also helps to eliminate bad breath. Clove is also effective against cavities, and traditionally, in India, clove oil was added to a small cotton ball and put at the end of the tooth which has the cavity every day before going to sleep. The cavity would vanish in a few days. As a result, clove oil is added to numerous dental products and medications, including mouthwash and tooth paste. Dentists also mix clove oil with zinc oxide to prepare a white, filling material as a temporary alternative to a root canal. But be careful, it is very strong and can cause burns inside your mouth if used incorrectly.
Recent studies and careful consideration of the power of clove oil have resulted in it being used as a soothing balm on infants who are teething. In extremely diluted form, it can be applied to a baby’s gums, and the antiseptic and soothing qualities of the oil can ease their pain and reduce their discomfort.
Digestion: Cloves possess beneficial properties that help relax the smooth muscle lining in your gastrointestinal tract. When used as an oil, it can aid in halting digestive problems, like nausea and vomiting. Clove oil offers a powerful action against gas and bloating. It reduces gas pressure in the stomach, aiding in the proper elimination of food and toxins. It also relieves the discomfort of peptic ulcers. Effective for stomach related conditions including nausea, hiccups, motion sickness and vomiting.
Expectorant: Clove bud oil is also used to help ease respiratory problems, such as cough, colds, sinusitis, asthma, and tuberculosis. In fact, chewing on a clove bud is said to help sore throats.
Insect repellent: When used together with citrus essential oils, this plant oil can help ward insects away.

Skin: An aid for skin disorders, When applied topically, clove buds can help address skin problems like warts, acne, sagging skin, and wrinkles. The effects are best achieved when the oil is used in liquid form and spread on a clean, dry rag. You will find it in many products for lessening the effects of aging, like wrinkles, sagging skin, and facial rejuvenation for the eyes because of its rejuvenating and stimulating properties, which can increase blood flow to unhealthy skin and make it look young again!
Stress reliever: Clove oil stimulates the circulatory system, clearing the mind and reducing mental exhaustion and fatigue. It is also used to aid insomnia, memory loss, anxiety and depression.
Toxin exposure: Some studies show that clove oil can prevent toxicity related to exposure to environmental pollution.
Is Clove Bud Oil Safe?
Using this oil undiluted can lead to serious skin problems. To prevent this from happening, I suggest you dilute clove bud oil with a carrier oil like jojoba oil, coconut oil, or olive oil. If you'd like to apply it topically, check first for allergic reactions. Perform a skin test or apply a drop on your skin, and observe for any side effects.
Clove bud oil, as well as the other forms, is considered a dangerous sensitizer in some individuals. High concentrations of eugenol may irritate your mucous membrane, and may cause dermatitis and other skin problems. It should never be used on damaged skin. In some cases, the oil may lead to photosensitivity. For instance, exposure to sunlight after the application of unadulterated clove bud oil can lead to severe burns or the spread of viral sores.
People using anticoagulants and aspirin should avoid clove oils as they can slow down platelet activity. The oil can also cause blood glucose to plummet, so diabetics should be extra careful when using it. Individuals with liver or kidney disease should also refrain from using this oil because it can cause damage to both organs.
Pregnant and nursing women should use caution when using clove bud oil. Children should be kept away from this oil because of potential intestinal discomfort. It is best to steer clear of any clove product if you are allergic .
Side Effects of Clove Bud Oil
Despite its many health benefits, I advise everyone, especially beginners, to use clove oil in moderation. Eugenol, while it offers many beneficial properties, may induce allergic effects. It should be taken gradually in small amounts.
For instance, taking the oil orally in its undiluted form can result in nausea, vomiting, sore throat, seizure, and even blood problems. It may lead to shortness of breath, even rashes and itching.
Repeated use of clove bud oil to address acne problems can cause skin damage, which may leave permanent marks.11
If you're thinking of using clove bud oil to address a dental problem or any health concern, I recommend that you seek the advice of a holistic healthcare practitioner or an experienced aromatherapist first.

However, in traditional medicine, this essential oil has been used extensively by indigenous people and is now spreading around the world.

Lavender
The various health benefits of lavender essential oil include the following:
Bug Repellent: The smell of lavender essential oil is potent for many types of bugs like mosquitoes, midges, and moths. Apply some of the lavender oil on the exposed skin when outside to prevent these irritating bites. Furthermore, if you do happen to be bitten by one of those bugs, the lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory qualities that will reduce the irritation and the pain associated with bug bites.
Sleep: Lavender essential oil induces sleep which has made it a common recommendation for an alternative treatment of insomnia. Frequent studies on elderly patients have shown an increase in their sleep regularity when their normal sleep medication is replaced with some lavender essential oil being placed on their pillows. It has such a relaxing impact on people that it can often replace modern medicine for sleep issues.
Nervous system: Lavender essential oil has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves and anxiety issues. Therefore, it can also be helpful in treating migraines, headaches, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress. The refreshing aroma removes nervous exhaustion and restlessness while also increasing mental activity. It has a well-researched impact on the autonomic nervous system, which is why it is frequently used as a treatment for insomnia and also as a way to regulate heart-rate variability. One study showed that people taking tests showed a significant decrease in mental stress and anxiety, as well as increased cognitive function when they inhaled lavender oil and rosemary oil before taking the exam!
LavenderessentialoilAcne: According to dermatologists and aromatherapists, lavender essential oil is one of the most beneficial oils in the treatment of acne, which is a very uncomfortable and embarrassing condition that primarily affects young people as they move through puberty, but can also afflict adults. It is characterized by red, raised sores on the face and body that develop due to a bacterial infection near the sebum gland. When sebum cannot be properly secreted from the sebum glands on the face, it begins to build up, particularly because puberty stimulates extra sebum and bacteria feeds off of it, creating a vicious cycle of irritation, infection, and visible sores that can result in serious scarring.
Lavender essential oil inhibits the bacteria that cause the initial infection, helps to regulate some of the over-excretion of sebum by hormonal manipulation, and can reduce the signs of scarring after the acne has begun to heal. Adding a small amount of lavender essential oil to other skin creams or ointments can greatly increase the potential for relief and healing.
Pain relief: Lavender essential oil is known as an excellent remedy for various types of pains including those caused by sore and tense muscles, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backache and lumbago. A regular massage with lavender oil can also provide relief from pain in the joints. A study done on postoperative pain relief showed that combining lavender essential oil vapor into the oxygen significantly reduced the amount of pain experienced, versus those patients only revived with oxygen after a major surgery.
Urine flow: Lavender essential oil is good for urinary disorders because of its stimulating effect on urine production. Furthermore, it helps in restoring hormonal balance and reducing cystitis or inflammation of the urinary bladder. It also reduces any associated cramps with these and other disorders.
Respiratory disorders: Lavender oil is widely used for various respiratory problems including throat infections, flu, cough, cold, asthma, sinus congestion, bronchitis, whooping cough, laryngitis, and tonsillitis. The oil is either used in the form of vapor or is applied on the skin of the neck, chest and back. It is also added to many vaporizers and inhalers that are commonly used for colds and coughs. The stimulating nature of lavender essential oil can also loosen up the phlegm and relieve the congestion associated with respiratory conditions, speeding up the recovery process and helping the body naturally eliminate phlegm and other unwanted material. The vapor of lavender essential oil also has antibacterial qualities which can battle respiratory tract infections.
Hair care: Lavender essential oil is useful for hair care because it has been shown to be very effective on lice, lice eggs, and nits. Furthermore, lavender essential oil has also been shown to be very helpful in the treatment of hair loss, particularly for patients who suffer from alopecia, an autoimmune disease where the body rejects its own hair follicles. A Sottish study reported that more than 40% of alopecia patients in the study reported an increase in hair growth when they regularly rubbed lavender essential oil into their scalp. Therefore, lavender oil is sometimes recommended as a preventative measure for male pattern baldness!
Cancer: Although more research needs to be done on human subjects, there is significant research on the effects of lavender, in combination with other essential oils, as a way to prevent the occurrence of breast cancer in mice. However, this could be an indication of an increased chance of lavender battling other carcinogenic effects and the presence of cancer.
Blood circulation: Lavender essential oil is also good for improving the circulation of blood in the body. Research suggests that aromatherapy using lavender oil has beneficial effects on coronary circulation. It also lowers blood pressure and is often used for hypertension. This means that not only do the organs increase their levels of oxygenation, promoting muscle strength and health, but brain activity can have a noticeable boost, skin remains bright and flushed with blood, and the body is protected from the risks of heart attack and artherosclerosis that is often associated with poor circulation.
Digestion: Lavender oil is useful for digestion because it increases the mobility of food within the intestine. The oil also stimulates the production of gastric juices and bile, thus aiding in the treatment of indigestion, stomach pain, colic, flatulence, vomiting and diarrhea.
lavenderoilImmunity: Regular use of lavender essential oil provides resistance to a variety of diseases. It is well-known that lavender has antibacterial and antiviral qualities that make it perfect for defending the body against rare diseases like TB, typhoid, and diphtheria, according to early research in the 20th century.
General Skin care: The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. It is commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues. Lavender oil is also added to chamomile to treat eczema.
Other: Other health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to treat leucorrhoea. The oil can also used to repel mosquitoes and moths, which is why you will find many mosquito repellents that contain lavender oil as one of the primary ingredients.
As with many other essential oils, pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using lavender essential oil. It is also recommended that patients with diabetes stay away from lavender oil. It may also cause allergic reactions to people that have unusually sensitive skin. Some people may also witness nausea, vomiting and headaches due to either common or excessive use of lavender oil.
Perhaps most importantly, lavender oil should never be ingested, only topically applied or inhaled through means of aromatherapy or similar activities. Ingestion can cause serious health complications, characterized by blurred vision, difficult breathing, burning eyes, vomiting, and diarrhea. So, even if you think that lavender oil is a wonderful miracle cure, don’t get excited and start putting it on your food!

Mustard
The health benefits of Mustard Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as a stimulant, irritant, appetizer, antibacterial, antifungal, insect repellant, hair vitalizer, cordial, diaphoretic, antirheumatic and tonic substance.
Mustard essential oil is totally different from Mustard Oil, not in the sense that it is extracted from anything else, but in terms of the process of extraction, chemical composition and medicinal properties. Both of these oils are extracted from the seeds of mustard, which bears the scientific name Brassica Nigra (Black Mustard) or Brassica Hirta (White Mustard).
While mustard oil is extracted by cold compression of mustard seeds, its essential oil is extracted by steam distillation of mustard seeds soaked in water, and that is where the major difference occurs. Mustard seeds (black or white) contain an enzyme called Myrosinase and a glucosinolate called Sinigrin. These two remain isolated in mustard seeds under normal conditions, but react when the seeds are subjected to pressure or heat. In the presence of water, these two components react to form Allyl Isothiocyanate (in case of black mustard) and normal Isothiocyanate (in case of white mustard), which is a toxic compound.
Allyl Isothiocyanate, which is present in the mustard essential oil by more than 90% of the volume, accompanied by certain fatty acids like Oleic Acid, Linoleic Acid and Erucic Acid, has been proven to have certain health benefits, which are discussed in greater detail below.
Stimulant: Mustard essential oil is a very strong stimulant, just like mustard oil. It is particularly effective in stimulating circulation, digestion and excretion. This oil, if used externally for the purpose of massage, stimulates circulation very well. The effects are very obvious by the red color of the skin. It also stimulates digestion by stimulating the secretion of gastric juices and bile from the spleen and liver. The excretory system is also stimulated by this oil since the peristaltic motion of the intestines is activated, benefiting digestion.
Irritant: Although being an irritant is not often seen as a good thing, it can be beneficial in some unique cases. Irritation is nothing but a way that an organ reacts to an external agent or stimulus. It also shows that the organ is responding to external stimuli. This is where the potential benefit is. This property can be used to bring sensation back to those organs which are suffering from numbness or lack of sensation. This property is also used to pump up muscles and stimulate muscle growth or excitation.
Appetizer: This essential oil acts as an appetizer and boosts huger. This can also be a side effect of the irritant and stimulant qualities of mustard essential oil. It irritates the inner lining of the stomach and intestines, stimulates digestive juices, and creates a feeling of hunger.
Antibacterial: This essential oil has bactericidal or antibacterial properties. Internally, it fights bacterial infections in the colon, digestive system, excretory system, and urinary tract. When applied externally, it can treat bacterial infections on the skin.
Antifungal: This oil serves as an antifungal agent, due to the presence of Allyl Isothiocyanate. It does not allow fungal growth and also inhibits the spread of infection if it has already formed.
Insect Repellant: Insects and even some smaller animals avoid this oil and keep away from it. That is why mustard essential oil acts as such a useful insect repellant as well. It can be used in fumigants and vaporizers to drive away insects.
Hair Revitalizer: The stimulating effect and the presence of certain fatty acids such as oleic acid and linoleic acid, when combined together, make mustard essential oil an efficient hair revitalizer. Its stimulating effects increase blood circulation in the scalp while the fatty acids nourish the hair roots. It has been repeatedly shown that prolonged use of this oil on the hair may give it a brown tint, but it strengthens it and effectively prevents hair loss.
Cordial: The feeling of warmth that this oil provides makes it a cordial. It warms up the internal system like the respiratory system and protects it from the formation and accumulation of phlegm. It also warms up the body in winter to some extent. This also may be partially due to its stimulating and mildly irritating effects.
Diaphoretic: It promotes sweating both when consumed and when applied externally. It stimulates sweat glands to produce more sweat as well as enlarges the openings of the pores on skin. This property is helpful in lowering body temperature as well as for removing toxins, excess salts, and water from the body.
Tonic: This oil serves as an all around tonic for your body’s health. It tones up all the systems operating in the body, gives strength and boosts immune function.
Anti-Rheumatic & Anti-Arthritic: Mustard essential oil provides relief for symptoms of rheumatism and arthritis and has been used for this purpose since ancient times.
Other Benefits: It is beneficial in treating cold & cough, headache, congestion resulting from colds, aches, body pain and is helpful for muscle growth. It can also be rubbed on gums to strengthen them. It also protects teeth from germs. This oil contains a good percentage of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamin-E, which all have their own extensive health benefits.
A Few Words of Caution: Despite various adverse reports regarding its toxicity and warnings against use by pregnant women, no such effects have been observed in India and Bangladesh, where both mustard and its oils have been in use for centuries. At the same time, it is also true that this oil has irritating effects on the mucus membranes, but it has no other inherent threats. It may be difficult for people who are not used to this oil, and it takes a few exposures to become used to the sensation.
Blending: No information regarding its blending is known specifically, but it is extremely rare to see this as an aromatherapy option due to its mildly irritating nature.

Peppermint
Peppermint is a hybrid mint, a cross between watermint and spearmint. Peppermint has a long tradition of medicinal use and it has a strong, clean, fresh and minty aroma.
Peppermint oil has a high menthol content that produces a cooling and refreshing sensation and is extracted from the whole plant above ground just before flowering. Peppermint essential oil is very intense and is far more concentrated than most other steam distilled essential oils.
Here are 10 good reasons why you should consider adding peppermint essential oil to your daily life:
1. Spider and bug repellent
All spiders have their taste buds on the tips of their legs and there are certain scents they hate, and one of them is peppermint essential oil, which will help to repel the spiders both inside and outside your home. It is also effective against other bugs. Take a 12 oz bottle of witch hazel and add to it 30-50 drops of essential oil. Shake well and place in your spray bottle using a funnel. Before each use just shake up a bit. Other good essential oils to add to the mix are lemon grass, citronella, tea tree, spearmint and cinnamon.
2. Increase concentration and alertness
You’ve probably heard that along with smart teaching, careful preparation, a good night’s sleep and a full stomach, peppermint candies are said to improve test performance. In the 1990s, researchers at University of Cincinnati found that a smell of peppermint helped test subjects concentrate and do better on tasks that required sustained concentration and achieved improvement in focus and alertness. You can just put the bottle under your nose and inhale. you may also be interested to read my article about the best herbs to improve memory and brain function.
3. Relieve headache
Refreshing and cooling peppermint essential oil contains a significant amount of menthol. Amongst its many uses, menthol is known to help relax and ease tension headaches and muscular aches and pains. Rub one drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (avoid contact with your eyes), and on the back of the neck to relieve head pressure. See an effective headache oil blend containing peppermint in my article how to relieve headache using essential oils.
4. Relieve muscle, joint pain and nerve pain
Peppermint essential oil is good to soothe tired, aching muscles, relieve arthritis and rheumatism. Put a few drops of peppermint essential oil in a hot bath (you can also add 2-3 cups of Epsom salt to enhance the effect). It’s a good idea to mix the essential oil drops in a small amount of carrier oil first and then add to the bath. Or you can use it as a massage oil – use about 10 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil and massage this oil blend into any body part where your muscles are sore. You can find more information in my article the top 16 essential oils to relieve pain and how to use them.
5. Relieve sinus congestion
Rosemary, tee tree, eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils may help relieve some symptoms of sinus congestion. Just do a steam inhalation by adding few drops of peppermint essential oil in boiling water, and place a towel over your head. Bend over the pan and breathe in the steam. It will provide a cooling action and can bring a feeling of air flowing through your nose. Find here more home remedies for sinus infection.
6. Flavor Booster
Pure peppermint essential oil is edible! First be sure that the oil is very, very diluted, and make sure you’re using food-grade essential oil, as most are not edible. Only food grade essential oils, such as Young Living Essential Oils, can be ingested or taken internally. Add a drop to your tea, coffee or few drops to cookie, brownie or other dessert recipes.
7. Refresh your breath

The aromatherapy bath with various essential oils is a simple and very effective aromatherapy treatment. We all know the relaxing properties of water and essential oils, but the aromatherapy bath doesn’t have to be relaxing. It can also be stimulating, depending on the essential oils that you choose and the water temperature. Peppermint essential oil is good for stimulation and revitalizing your body. See instructions in my article how to make aromatherapy bath for stimulation.
9. Alleviate symptoms of motion sickness or nausea
Place a drop of peppermint essential oil on the end of your tongue, or behind your ears, or around your navel or massage several drops of peppermint essential oil on your abdomen, or just inhale it from a handkerchief to find relief. Don’t use peppermint essential oil during pregnancy.
10. Improve digestion

Pomegranate seed oil
Pomegranate seed oil is rich and has moisturizing effect that revitalizes the skin to keep it smooth and flawless. It increases the production of collagen fibres.
Red Clover
Red clover has been known to cause nausea, headache, muscle ache, and vaginal bleeding (spotting) in some women.
With scientific name Trifolium Pratense, red clover is one of the herbs with the richest sources of isoflavones, or a water-soluble chemical that can act like estrogen.
Therefore, it has been used for breast enhancement and boosting breast health because of its capacity to mimic the natural estrogen hormones in your body. It can also help make your breasts firm, too.
Other than the isoflavones, red clover also contains a powerful phytoestogen called genistein. This potent phytoestrogen binds the estradiol receptors in your breasts, thereby promoting breast growth and helping to increase your cup size.
Aside from this, red clover can also treat medical issues, such as hot flashes and premenopausal symptoms, including breast pain. Sage
Sandalwood
Sandalwood is very good for dry skin. It used in moisturizers or as a moisturizer to soften skin and reduce appearance of fine lines. It improves circulation and increase new cell growth.
Sasparilla
Sarsaparilla is a good source of “saponins,” which are natural carbohydrates found in plants. They have shown in studies to have good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and also have the “foaming” properties.
Sarsaparilla also contains flavonoids and nutrients like copper, iron, manganese, vitamins A and D, and zinc, making it a good anti-aging ingredient for the tender skin around the eyes.
We recently added it to our Anti-Aging Eye Cream. Here are the main benefits of sarsaparilla in skin care:
Anti-inflammatory: Any inflammation quickly contributes to aging the skin, so we want to regularly cool inflammation down. Sarsaparilla has shown to be an effective anti-inflammatory, which is why it’s long been used to ease the pain of arthritis and rheumatism.
Antioxidant: We want to protect the area around the eyes from exposure to UV rays and pollution, which can create damaging free radicals. Antioxidants help neutralize these free radicals before they can accelerate aging. Sarsaparilla contains natural antioxidants that help in this task.
Anti-bacterial: Any disruption in the outer layer of skin can provide a way in for damaging bacteria. Sarsaparilla helps fight against bacteria, refusing to allow them to settle onto skin where they can cause inflammation or infections.
Moisturizing: Sarsaparilla contains natural fats that contribute to skin’s own moisturizing properties.
Wound-healer: This herb has a good reputation as a wound-healer, most likely because of its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties combined. In traditional medicine, it’s long been used to treat abscesses, sores, boils, and infections. This makes it a good choice for the skin around the eyes, as it provides a protective and calming action.
Tonic: Typical words associated with sarsaparilla include “tones” and “balances.” It’s known for being an adaptogenic, which is an herb that can help reduce cellular stress and assist the body in adapting to external stresses. This action helps keep the skin around the eyes protected from whatever you may be going through in your day.
Saw Palmentto
Saw Palmetto is most widely known as an anti-androgen and for its role in reversing the shriveling of mammary glands.
This herb is also used as an aphrodisiac, a treatment for prostate enlargement, as well as for treatment of unwanted hair growth. It’s breast enhancing effects are a result of its phyto-nutrients, which stimulate breast tissue.
Its use dates back to pre-Mayan civilizations who used Saw Palmetto berries for food, medicine, and particularly for breast disorders in women. Early American botanist observed that animals who fed on Saw Palmetto berries grew sleek, strong, and demonstrated more sexual vigor and improved muscle tone. Saw Palmetto is still recommended today by naturopathic physicians for enhancing breast size.
Additional benefits: Aids in urinary incontinence or infections, promotes prostate health, has anti-androgen effects, supports a healthy appetite and smooth digestion, tones the urethra, and encourages the healthy function of the thyroid and urinary system.
Sesemee
Spearmint
Spearmint is known to have significant anti-androgen effects (blocking your body’s testosterone), which are an impediment to breast growth. Just 1 – 2 cups a day would be enough of an anti-androgen for most women.
Vit E
Whitch Hazel
Wild Yam
Wild Yam is a herb most often associated with women’s health. It’s been widely used as a breast enlarger, a sexual stimulant, and has historically been used for its benefits in women’s reproductive health.
Additional benefits: Alleviates PMS and menopausal distress, promotes sexual vigor, encourages breast health.
** Wild yam has been used in many natural breast enhancement products and the reason for this mostly stems from something called diosgenin. In the 1950s, scientists found that the roots of wild yam contain a phytoestrogen called diosgenin. Diosgenin can be chemically converted into progesterone – which is why many creams containing wild yam claim to be “natural progesterone creams.” Those claims are only partially correct, since while diosgening can be converted into progesterone – it needs to be done in a lab. The human body cannot convert the diosgenin into progesterone.

This means that not only do the organs increase their levels of oxygenation, promoting muscle strength and health, but brain activity can have a noticeable boost, skin remains bright and flushed with blood, and the body is protected from the risks of heart attack and artherosclerosis that is often associated with poor circulation.

It may also cause allergic reactions to people that have unusually sensitive skin. Some people may also witness nausea, vomiting and headaches due to either common or excessive use of lavender oil.

15. Beneficial During Asthma
Mustard oil is considered a natural remedy for asthma and sinusitis. In case of an asthma attack, massaging the chest with brown mustard oil instead of the usual vapor rubs can give relief as breathing in the vapor improves airflow to the lungs. You can also mix one teaspoon of sugar and one teaspoon of mustard oil and have a spoonful several times a day. Alternatively, swallow a mixture of one teaspoon of honey and mustard oil thrice a day. These remedies are effective in controlling asthma.
16. Relief From Cold And Cough
This oil is beneficial for those who are prone to cold and cough as it helps clear the congestion of chest and nose. Apply a mixture of one teaspoon of mustard oil and camphor on the chest and lie back to enable the vapors to enter the lungs. For mustard oil steam treatment, add a few spoonfuls of mustard oil and caraway seeds to a pot of boiling water and inhale this steam. The strong aroma of mustard oil will warm up the respiratory system, thus providing protection against the formation and build-up of phlegm.
17. Anti-inflammatory Properties
The anti-inflammatory properties of mustard oil make it effective for relieving the condition of irritable bowel syndrome by reducing inflammation in the lining of the stomach. A massage with mustard oil helps relieve rheumatic and arthritic pain as well as soothes sprained ankles and other joint aches and pains. Its anti-inflammatory properties can be attributed to the presence of trace mineral called selenium that is good for relieving joint and skin inflammation. In case of arthritic pain, heat 3 to 4 garlic cloves in 2 tablespoons of mustard oil and rub it on sore joints for relief. However, in case of burning or tingling sensation or appearance of rashes, immediately stop using this oil.
18. Anti-bacterial
Mustard oil has anti-bacterial properties as it is rich in glucosinolate which does not allow microbial presence. Thus, it prevents unwanted growth of bacteria, fungi and other deadly microbes. When consumed, it fights bacterial infections in the urinary tract, colon, intestines and other parts of the digestive system as well as coughs and colds. When applied topically, it fights bacterial infections on skin.
19. Anti-fungal
Mustard oil also has anti-fungal properties due to the presence of a substance called allyl isothiocyanate that inhibits fungal growth. Hence, this oil can treat rashes and other skin infections caused by fungi.
20. Prevents Malaria
Mustard oil is an effective mosquito repellent as it can deter insects with its sharp aroma. Thus, it helps in preventing malaria and other insect-borne diseases.
21. Other Benefits
Mustard oil is an all-round tonic for health as it benefits all the systems operating in the body, provides strength and boosts immunity. It can be used along with other oils to massage infants as it improves weight, length and circumference of mid-arm and mid-leg besides providing strength.

Red clover is best taken as tea. Simply add one to two teaspoons of red clover flowers into a cup of hot water and let it steep for 30 minutes before drinking it. For best results, drink two to three times a day.
If you suffer from a bleeding disorder then red clover may increase the chance of bleeding. Use with caution and do not exceed the recommended dosage.

Sage
Sesemee
Spearmint
